Jardinières placette Léon Blum

The series of wide, concrete planters lining the center of the Place Léon Blum creates a rigid spine through the middle of the traffic. These jardinières mark the transition point where the heavy, stone facade of the local town hall meets the open pavement of the square. During the nineteen seventies, the urban planners here shifted the square away from a simple roundabout, filling the space with these stark, blocky forms to force pedestrians to navigate the area on foot.
