Square Olga Bancic is a small, paved triangular space defined by the heavy, dark metal fencing that encloses its benches and trees. It honors a woman who fled Romania in the nineteen thirties to join the French Resistance, eventually serving as an explosives expert for a partisan group in Paris. German soldiers captured her in November nineteen forty-three, and she faced a firing squad at Fort Mont-Valerien the following May. The city named this corner for her in two thousand four.
