The iron fence surrounding Square Louise de Marillac encloses a collection of mature chestnut trees and a children's play area tucked into a sharp triangular plot. This space occupies land once belonging to the Sisters of Charity, founded by the seventeenth-century saint for whom the park is named. In the late nineteen seventies, the city converted this former convent garden into a public square, preserving the quiet character of the hillside while opening the gates to the neighborhood residents who pass through today.
