When the venue opened its doors in nineteen twenty-six, it became a sanctuary for the avant-garde, hosting the first public screenings of films by Man Ray and Germaine Dulac. Filmmakers gathered here to experiment with light and rhythm while audiences filled the wooden chairs to watch the surrealists challenge conventional storytelling.
