Square Raymond Souplex

This square honors the life of Raymond Souplex, a multifaceted French entertainer who was a fixture of Parisian life for decades. Born in the early twentieth century, Souplex worked as a songwriter and cabaret performer before becoming a household name across France. He is best remembered today for his starring role in the television series The Five Last Minutes, where he played a methodical police investigator who famously exclaimed that he had solved a case with the phrase good God, but of course it is. Souplex spent much of his life living in this neighborhood, and the city dedicated this green space to his memory following his death in the nineteen seventies.
