Château de Bagatelle

The Château de Bagatelle was born from a wager in seventeen seventy-seven. The Comte d'Artois, who was the brother of King Louis the Sixteenth, challenged his sister-in-law, Queen Marie-Antoinette, to build a residence in the Bois de Boulogne in less than three months. The Count succeeded in just sixty-four days by employing nine hundred workers who labored around the clock. To ensure the construction remained on schedule, the Count even confiscated building materials destined for other royal projects throughout the city.
