Immeubles Walter

The Immeubles Walter stand as a massive Art Deco fortress at the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. Architect Jean Walter designed this residential complex between nineteen twenty-nine and nineteen thirty-one on land that had previously been occupied by the city's old defensive fortifications. He intended the buildings to serve as a modern garden city for the wealthy, drawing stylistic inspiration from the large-scale architecture he observed in the United States. Today, the complex is recognized as a monument historique for its unique preservation of high-end interwar design and its imposing, curvilinear stone facades.
