Square Alexandre-Ier-de-Yougoslavie

This small green space in the sixteenth arrondissement serves as the home for a significant equestrian monument. Inaugurated in nineteen thirty-six, the bronze and granite sculpture depicts two Yugoslavian monarchs, King Peter the First and his son, King Alexander the First. The work was created by the French sculptor Maxime Real del Sarte, who was known for both his artistic contributions and his involvement in political activism. This site commemorates the strong historical ties between France and the royal house of Yugoslavia during the early twentieth century.
