The building you are approaching is the Hôtel Arturo Lopez. It began its life in eighteen ninety-nine as a private residence commissioned by the Greek prince Paul Rodocanachi, who designed it in the style of the eighteenth century. Rodocanachi was a dedicated patron of the arts, and his home became a gathering place for luminaries like Auguste Rodin and Henri Matisse.
