Square Auguste Renoir

Square Auguste Renoir occupies land that once served a completely different purpose for the city. Before this park existed, the site was known as the impasse des Omnibus, a dead-end street that led directly to a depot for the city’s horse-drawn carriage company. The area transformed in nineteen sixty-two when a real estate development firm cleared the industrial site to make way for the residential space and garden you see today. It received its official name by prefectural decree the following year, permanently shifting the identity of this corner of the fourteenth arrondissement from a transit hub to a public leisure space.
