Square Jan Doornik

park garden

Square Jan Doornik sits directly atop a section of the RER C commuter rail line, occupying space that was once part of the nineteenth-century Petite Ceinture railway. Created in 1992, this urban park effectively masks the active transit infrastructure below it. The grounds are named in honor of Jan Doornik, a Dutch resistance fighter and Companion of the Liberation who was executed at Mont-Valérien in 1941 for his role in the French Resistance.
