The Paris Archives in the Marais district are housed within the Hôtel de Soubise and the Hôtel de Rohan, two magnificent private mansions that showcase some of the finest Rococo and Baroque architecture in the city. These buildings were once the aristocratic residences of the Rohan family before being repurposed by the French state to safeguard the nation's collective memory. The complex is now a repository for hundreds of miles of historical records that trace the story of France back to the seventh century.
