The Cimetière du Pré-Saint-Gervais was established in eighteen twenty-six to serve the local community during a time when the surrounding area was still largely rural fields. While its neighbors in Paris grew into massive, park-like necropolises, this site remained an intimate, municipal burial ground that reflects the history of its immediate residents rather than national figures. It occupies roughly one and a half hectares, functioning today as a quiet space for local memory and reflection.
