The Cimetière de Belleville sits on a steep slope, tucked away behind high stone walls that separate it from the bustle of the twentieth arrondissement. While many Parisian cemeteries hold grand monuments to the famous, this quiet space remains a local sanctuary filled with modest, ivy-covered plots. It opened in eighteen oh eight on land that once belonged to a farm.
