The Musée-Placard d’Erik Satie is a tiny room on the sixth floor of a building at six rue Cortot in Montmartre. It is where the composer Erik Satie lived for twenty-seven years. When Satie died in nineteen twenty-five, his friends opened the door to his room for the first time in decades. They found two pianos stacked on top of each other, a dozen identical velvet suits, and piles of musical scores stuffed into his pockets, still waiting to be played.
