The Petite Ceinture is a rusted iron gate tucked into the nineteenth arrondissement, serving as the entrance to a disused railway line that once encircled Paris. Opened in eighteen fifty-two, this track carried freight and passengers around the city’s perimeter for over a century. When the service ceased in nineteen thirty-four, nature reclaimed the gravel beds and steel rails. Today, the overgrown path sits quiet beneath the street level, hidden by wild ivy and the occasional abandoned signaling post.
