The Argonaute is a decommissioned hunter-killer submarine resting on concrete pylons, its dark gray hull contrasting sharply with the landscaped grounds of the Parc de la Villette. This vessel served in the French Navy for over twenty-five years, patrolling oceans during the height of the Cold War. In nineteen eighty-nine, workers dismantled part of the canal wall to tow the four hundred ton ship into its permanent dry-docked position, a process that took three days to navigate the tight locks.
