Paris Philharmonic

The Philharmonie de Paris rises above the Parc de la Villette like a shimmering, metallic mountain. Its exterior is clad in over three hundred thousand interlocking aluminum tiles, each shaped like an abstract bird. These tiles appear in various shades of grey, creating a mosaic effect that changes with the light. Architect Jean Nouvel designed the building to function as an artificial hill, complete with a rooftop pathway that invites you to walk toward the summit. From this high vantage point, you gain a sweeping, panoramic view of northeastern Paris that stretches well beyond the city center.
