Cimetière parisien de Pantin

The Parisian Cemetery of Pantin is the largest active cemetery in all of France. It covers one hundred and seven hectares of land and serves as the final resting place for approximately one million people. Unlike the historic and ornate burial grounds located within the city of Paris, this site was established in eighteen eighty-six to handle the urgent need for space during the capital's rapid expansion. Its design reflects a purely functional, grid-like urban layout, featuring thirty-two kilometers of roads that allow for motor vehicle access throughout the grounds.
