Cité de la Musique

The Cité de la Musique was built as part of an ambitious plan to transform the former slaughterhouse district of Paris into a center for the arts. Architect Christian de Portzamparc won a competitive process to design this facility, which opened its doors in nineteen ninety-five. He envisioned the complex as a dreamlike town, incorporating a maze of corridors, hidden staircases, and interlocking spaces that encourage visitors to wander and explore. Musicians who work here often joke that it takes about fifteen days just to learn how to navigate the building.
