Jardin du Chalet

The Jardin du Chalet is a quiet green space located in the tenth arrondissement of Paris. Its name honors a distinctive wooden structure that once stood nearby on the rue de Meaux. This historic chalet, dating back to the Exposition Universelle of eighteen sixty-seven, was originally brought to Paris as a representative piece of architecture from the Carpathian region. While the original wooden building is a rare survivor of the nineteenth-century passion for lightweight, portable architecture, the garden itself has recently been expanded to serve as a lush green corridor for the local neighborhood. Its modern design focuses on biodiversity and inclusive play areas for the community.
