Cœur rouge

The Cœur de Paris is a large, kinetic sculpture perched on a nine-meter-high mast at the Place de la Porte de Clignancourt. Created by the artist Joana Vasconcelos, this artwork consists of over three thousand hand-painted Portuguese tiles, known as azulejos. The structure rotates and its internal light display pulses in synchronization with the rhythmic beat of a human heart. Residents of the neighborhood served as the official commissioners for this project through a local community association. They sought to bring a vibrant piece of public art into their area as a symbol of local identity and warmth. The installation was inaugurated on Valentine's Day in two thousand nineteen to celebrate the connection between the city and its residents.
