The building you are approaching was once known as a factory of grief. For over a century, beginning in the late eighteen hundreds, this site served as the city’s central municipal funeral parlor. More than one thousand employees worked here to construct coffins, stable the hundreds of horses used to pull funeral carriages, and coordinate up to one hundred and fifty processions every single day.
