Stade Bergeyre

A century ago, this ground was not occupied by villas and cobblestone paths, but by a fifteen-thousand-seat stadium known as Stade Bergeyre. It was built in nineteen eighteen to host top-tier sporting events, including matches during the nineteen twenty-four Paris Olympics. The site was named for Robert Bergeyre, a young rugby player who had been killed at the age of twenty during the First World War.
