Cabaret du Ciel

The Cabaret du Ciel displays a facade decorated with a large, gilded depiction of Saint Peter guarding the entrance to paradise. Opened in eighteen ninety-nine, this venue invited patrons to dine in a surreal recreation of heaven, complete with angels and clouds made of painted canvas. While neighbors ran a companion Cabaret de l'Enfer nearby featuring demons and cauldrons, guests here stepped past the gatekeeper to experience a celestial spectacle. The owners eventually closed both establishments in nineteen fifty to make way for a supermarket.
