Hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo Antigua

The thick stone walls of the Hotel Posada de Don Rodrigo hold a wooden balcony that overlooks the central courtyard. This building started as a private colonial residence in the seventeenth century, constructed with the heavy masonry and interior gardens typical of the era. Its most famous resident was Doctor Alejandro Cofiño, who kept a collection of colorful parrots that drew neighborhood children to his windows. The residence became a hotel in the mid twentieth century, keeping the original stone fountains and carved wooden pillars.
