A small, unassuming storefront sits on the street with a hand-painted wooden sign featuring a stylized cacao pod. Inside, the space functions as a dedicated hub for traditional Mayan textile preservation. Founder Katherine Gill moved to Guatemala in two thousand eight and began working directly with indigenous weavers to experiment with natural dyes. These weavers use techniques passed down through generations, such as using cochineal insects for red or indigo for blue, turning ancient cloth production into a contemporary livelihood.
