Ixcaco

The facade of Ixcaco is painted in a vibrant, deep shade of red that stands out against the cobblestone streets of Antigua. This building serves as a workshop and retail space dedicated to the preservation of traditional Mayan backstrap weaving. Nydia Giron founded the shop to revive techniques that were fading from daily use. She spends her days working the wooden loom, surrounded by textiles dyed with indigo, pomegranate, and achiote, turning raw cotton into cloth using patterns passed down through generations.
