The thick, white stucco walls of Mesón Panza Verde rise from the cobblestones of Fifth Street South, topped by a heavy clay tile roof. Since the nineteen eighties, this building has functioned as a destination for travelers and locals alike. Before the dining rooms and art galleries moved in, the structure served as a private residence. Its name, which translates to green belly, originates from a local nickname for residents of Antigua, poking fun at their perceived fondness for good food and drink.
