Ebisu Bridge

landmark

The Ebisu Bridge crosses the Dotonbori Canal with a distinct arch that rises above the water, framed by massive, glowing billboards. It sits at the heart of Osaka, named for the nearby shrine to the god of fishermen and luck. In nineteen thirty-five, an engineer named Kenzo Tanaka designed the current steel structure to replace a wooden span. He prioritized durability, but the bridge became famous for a different reason. Locals gather here to celebrate victories of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team.
