Wat Chom Si crowns the summit of Mount Phousi, a steep hill rising from the center of the old town of Luang Prabang. The structure is a slim, gilded stupa that glows against the jungle canopy at sunset. It sits on the site of a much older spirit shrine that locals maintained long before the Buddhist temple appeared in eighteen oh four. The stupa holds a small golden Buddha, and the space remains a site where the city keeps its connection to the mountain.
