El Pinar

The house known as El Pinar stands apart because of its intense, bubblegum pink facade and the French-style mansard roof that seems entirely out of place in the tropical heat of Mérida. Built in the early twentieth century, this mansion served as a residence for the wealthy families who grew rich on henequen. The house remained boarded up and silent for decades, sparking local rumors about its interior, until a recent renovation peeled back the layers to reveal original marble floors and grand chandeliers.
