Reguliersgracht & Keizersgracht

The intersection of the Reguliersgracht and the Keizersgracht features seven stone bridges aligned in a row, visible when standing at the correct angle. This crossing sits at the heart of the seventeenth century canal belt, a project designed to expand the city and house its growing merchant class. During the second World War, a resistance group used the basement of a house on this corner to print illegal newspapers, hiding their press behind a false wall while the city outside remained under occupation.
