The Vondelparkpaviljoen stands out because of its bright, neoclassical white facade and the two curved wings that reach out toward the park lawns. Built in eighteen seventy-four, it served as a coffee house and a social hub for the wealthy elite who strolled through the newly opened park. In nineteen sixty-seven, the building transformed into the Filmmuseum. During that time, the actor Charlie Chaplin visited to open an exhibition, famously signing the guestbook with his own name and a small sketch of himself.
