Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

The Stedelijk Museum sports a massive, cantilevered roof extension that locals call the Bathtub. Designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects and finished in twenty twelve, this stark white structure looms over the original nineteen century red-brick building. Inside, the museum holds one of the world's most significant collections of modern and contemporary art. When the doors first opened in eighteen ninety-five, the space housed everything from historical artifacts to a collection of weapons before shifting focus entirely to the avant-garde.
