The Renoma department store features a long, horizontal facade covered in hundreds of cream-colored terracotta tiles. Built in nineteen thirty, it was originally the Wertheim department store. During the nineteen forty-five siege of Breslau, the building suffered massive fire damage, but its reinforced concrete skeleton held firm while everything around it collapsed. Workers later spent years stripping away the scorched stone and charred remains, eventually restoring the exterior to its original modernist appearance, right down to the signature vertical glass bays.
