University Bridges

landmark

The University Bridge in Wroclaw spans the Oder River with a heavy steel arch painted a distinct, weathered green. It replaced a nineteenth century stone crossing that could no longer handle the city's increasing traffic. When engineers completed the structure in nineteen oh six, they designed it to connect the historic center with the growing northern districts. The bridge carries the weight of thousands of commuters every day, yet it maintains the decorative ironwork and ornate lamp posts from its original imperial construction.
