The Swahili Cafe occupies a corner building in Kiponda with thick, lime-washed stone walls and a heavy, carved wooden door typical of Stone Town architecture. Originally built as a private merchant residence, the structure eventually transitioned into a communal space serving coffee and local snacks. In the late nineteen nineties, a fire damaged the interior, leading to a renovation that uncovered original ceiling beams made of mangrove wood, which remain exposed today. It is a place where people gather for spiced coffee.
