Jafferji House

other

Jafferji House rises above the narrow stone alleys of Shangani with a distinct, carved wooden balcony that hangs over the street. Once the home of a prominent merchant family, it functioned as a warehouse and residence during the height of the spice trade. Inside, the walls are thick, designed to keep the heat of the Indian Ocean at bay. The merchant Jafferji kept his records here, balancing shipments of cloves and textiles while the city bustled through his front door.
