Africa House Hotel

The Africa House Hotel occupies a building defined by its sprawling, arched stone verandas and an elevated, colonial-era facade that towers over the narrow streets of the Stone Town harbor area. Originally constructed in eighteen eighty-eight as a private club for British officers, it served as a social sanctuary where the colonial administration gathered to trade news and escape the humidity. Today, the building maintains that atmosphere, with its high ceilings and heavy mahogany furniture still anchored in its original structural bones.
