Aslıhan Pasajı

The Aslıhan Pasajı is a narrow, three-story arcade packed with thousands of secondhand books, identifiable by the crowded glass windows overflowing with old maps, faded lithographs, and leather-bound spines. Originally built as a hotel in the late nineteenth century, it became the heart of Istanbul's trade in rare manuscripts and out-of-print Turkish literature during the nineteen eighties. Collectors still dig through these stacks for Ottoman-era documents, while the shopkeepers remain the city's primary keepers of lost titles and forgotten academic archives.
