Aga Khan Centre

The Aga Khan Centre is a landmark in the King's Cross development designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki. It serves as an academic and cultural hub focused on the study of Muslim civilisations. The building acts as a home for three organizations founded by His Highness the Aga Khan, including the Institute of Ismaili Studies and the Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations. Its architectural design emphasizes transparency and openness, utilizing a nine-story glazed atrium that draws natural light deep into the interior spaces. The structure is clad in pale limestone, which provides a striking contrast to the darker industrial brickwork characteristic of the historic King's Cross railway lands.
