The ground you are approaching was once the site of Saint Jude's Church, which stood here from the middle of the nineteenth century until the Second World War. During the Blitz, a bomb struck the building, leaving behind only ruins that remained empty for decades. This patch of land was eventually fenced off to stop the dumping of trash, marking a long period where the site sat abandoned in the middle of the city.
