The Bloomsbury Theatre occupies an unusual architectural position in central London. When the building opened in 1968, it was designed with a multifunctional purpose that prioritized student life above all else. This meant the theatre auditorium was constructed directly beneath a gymnasium, squash courts, and even rowing tanks.
