The Tabard

event

The Tabard Inn was established in thirteen zero seven as a private residence for the Abbot of Hyde in Winchester. He built the inn so he and his monks would have a dedicated place to stay while traveling to London on church business. Because of its location on the primary road between London and Canterbury, the building quickly became a vital stop for pilgrims traveling to the shrine of Thomas Becket.
