In nineteen twenty-six, the National Laboratory of Psychical Research opened its doors at sixteen Queensberry Place, transforming the study of the paranormal by treating it like an industrial chemistry project. Its founder, Harry Price, was a magician by training who brought a skeptical eye and a massive array of high-tech gear to a field previously dominated by faith and table-tapping. Instead of Ouija boards, visitors here encountered a strange assortment of laboratory equipment, including ultraviolet lamps, thermographs, and delicate recording devices designed to catch mediums in the act of trickery.
