Princess Beatrice Hospital

The building you see, known today as Princess Beatrice House, began its life in 1887 as the Queen's Jubilee Hospital. It was established to honor the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, initially operating out of a local villa called Walwyn House with just fourteen beds dedicated to the sick and needy poor. The facility underwent several name changes as it grew, eventually settling on the Princess Beatrice Hospital in 1930 when a major new building was constructed on the site. Princess Beatrice herself, the youngest daughter of Queen Victoria, laid the foundation stone for this expansion.
