Cobourg Road Nature Area

The Cobourg Road Nature Area occupies a patch of land that was once shattered by bombs during the Second World War. Rather than clearing the debris and laying down fresh sod, a local resident and deputy park manager named Dave Sadler took a different approach in the early nineteen sixties. He allowed the land to reclaim itself, fostering a natural woodland corridor that has since become a sanctuary for wildlife in the middle of a dense urban environment. This experiment in early urban rewilding created a quiet, tree-lined path that still serves as a living laboratory for children participating in forest school programs today.
