Vauxhall Bridge

landmark

Vauxhall Bridge is the only river crossing in the United Kingdom to feature large-scale public statuary directly on its structure. If you look down at the piers from the river or from the embankments, you will see eight massive bronze figures standing in alcoves. Each of these twice life-size statues represents an aspect of British industry or society, including pottery, architecture, engineering, and local government. Because they are mounted below the level of the bridge deck, they remain almost entirely hidden from the view of commuters crossing the bridge itself.
