Billy Goat Hill

Billy Goat Hill features a distinct, craggy rock outcrop that rises sharply above the surrounding neighborhood of Glen Park. In the nineteen seventies, neighbors fought to save this land from becoming a high-density housing development. They pushed the city to acquire the space for a public park, preserving the wild, windswept ridge for hikers. A rickety rope swing once hung from a twisted eucalyptus tree here, offering a view of the city that drew daredevils until the city removed it for safety.
